Really Cool Comic Con 2019 This Saturday

My Super Crazy July continues this weekend with Really Cool Comic Con. This is my first time appearing at the show, and despite my packed summer schedule, this is only my second comic event of 2019 (so far).

When and Where is Really Cool Comic Con?

This comic event is short and sweet: one day only, this Saturday, July 20th. I like one day events, especially those close to home. Sure, it means my opportunities for sales are decreased, but I get some of my weekend back (and Sundays aren’t always great at most shows anyway).

Really Cool Comic Con takes place at the Hartland Community Center (9525 E Highland Rd, Howell, Michigan 48843). I’ve never been to that location either, so I’m looking forward to trying out a new space.

Really Cool Comic Con Hours and Tickets

The show has early hours for VIP ticket holders, who get in at 9AM. Everyone else gets inside the show at 10AM. Doors close at 6PM. It’s only one day, but it is a long day (especially when you factor in set-up and tear down).

You can grab early tickets on the Really Cool Comic Con website (and tickets for autographs/photos with the celeb guests).

My Artist Alley Set-Up

Because this is only a one day show, and that I’ve never done it before, I may keep my set-up pretty simple. I will for sure have prints, greeting cards, buttons, and the Foxes & Boxes book for sale. I will be doing on the spot mash-up cartoons and other commissions too. I’m definitely not bringing any framed original art, and I’m considering saving my remaining 100 Day Project originals for my next art festival appearance (Brighton in early August). We’ll see.

Part of me is curious to see how I do if I only focus on selling prints and the Foxes & Boxes books. There is such as thing as trying to sell “too much” at shows.

If it’s like most comic shows, people will be looking for prints, books, and commissions. This is another reason why I track all of my sales using the Square app (even cash sales): so I can look back and see which items sold best at certain events.

Anyway, I hope you can come out on Saturday!
