My neighborhood in Lansing, Sycamore Park, held a design contest for new sign toppers in 2017. The city agreed to use the winning design for the final sign toppers around the neighborhood, as a way to “brand” the area. Sycamore Park residents voted for their favorite design via the neighborhood social media app, Nextdoor.
I’m happy to say, my design won, and the city installed the sign toppers in the spring of 2018. I knew the design should be simple, yet showcase the neighborhood in some way. I used a sycamore leaf along with an image of the river, which runs through the neighborhood.
