Michigan State University Comics Forum this Saturday

My 2020 season continues to move along, as this coming Saturday brings my second event of the year. Michigan State University’s Comics Forum returns this Saturday, February 22nd and I am in artist alley this year. Hooray! I love this event and look forward to it every year.

MSU Comics Forum Artist Alley

The best part of the Comics Forum is it is FREE to attend. Just show up to the Main Library on Michigan State University’s campus. Note that Artist Alley is on 3rd Floor West of the library (there will be signs).

What I really love about the Comics Forum is the focus on creators. This isn’t like a comic con (which are less and less comic focused these days) with all kinds of pop culture stuff around. Creators, and comic scholars, take the center stage. While there isn’t a huge artist alley, it does make for an intimate atmosphere.

This year I’m selling copies of the Foxes & Boxes book, and it’s my first time selling a finished graphic novel at Comics Forum. In the past all I’ve had were mini-comics and the like. It will be nice to have a full-length book for sale.

Creator Keynote Friday Night

Make sure to come out on Friday night to the Creator Keynote. This is always a highlight and I love attending every year. The 2020 Comics Forum Creator Keynote Speaker is Emil Ferris, who made the fantastic comic My Favorite Thing is Monsters. You will definitely want to stop by Artist Alley on Saturday and grab a copy.

Like artist alley on Saturday, Friday’s Keynote is free to attend and it is in the library as well.

What’s Next?

I’m still a few months away from the Crazy Season, but I do have another event on the horizon. Next month, on Saturday March 21 I’m returning to the REO Town Marketplace. I’m appearing there as part of the Stay-cation Beach Party Artisan Market. It will be Spring Break themed! I want to whip up a few “Spring Break” or vacation related cartoons for the event.
