This weekend I’m exhibiting at a new (to me) venue: the Makers Market inside the MSU Broad Art Lab in East Lansing, Michigan. I can’t wait! I’ve been looking forward to this event ever since I was approached about it a few months ago at ArtFeast.
What Is the Makers Market?
You can probably guess, the Makers Market is a collection of local makers. That is, folks like me who make things, such as art. Makers Market is a two-day event, this Saturday (Oct. 19) and Sunday (Oct. 20). Close to 20 makers will be on hand, selling their goodies.
Better still, there is no cost to enter. That’s right: a free event.
The hours are 12PM – 6PM on Saturday, and 10AM – 4PM on Sunday.
What’s This Art Lab Thing?
For starters, the Art Lab is part of Michigan State University’s Broad Art Museum. Here’s what the Art Lab’s website says:
“Offering unprecedented access to our growing collection of nearly 8,000 objects, this laboratory houses exhibitions, workshops, events, and social gatherings designed for individual and collective interactions with art and culture.”
Having visited a few times, I can honestly say the Art Lab is a fun place and I’m very excited to be there this weekend. Here’s the address: 565 E Grand River Ave., East Lansing, MI 48823. (You can’t miss it, just look for the big sign that says Art Lab)
What Am I Selling This Weekend?
Pretty much a little bit of everything! I’m not limited with what I can sell, so I’ll have original art, prints, and my Foxes & Boxes book.
I will have this year’s Inktober cartoons for sale too! I call this series 31 Cats. I’m using the official Inktober prompts, but I’m making each one about cats. Grab them while you can, because I’ve already sold a couple this week–and I sold all of last year’s cartoons.
Make sure to follow me on Instagram to keep with all of this year’s Inktober drawings.
