They say busy is good, well then this Friday must be one of the best ever. I’m kinda double-booked this Friday night, with a pair of events going on in downtown Lansing, at the same time. These are the Impression 5 Holiday STEM Market and the Lansing Art Gallery Michigan Made Holiday Art Exhibition.
Granted, I’m technically only appearing at Impression 5, but I have cartoon greeting cards for sale at the Lansing Art Gallery and had planned to swing by to hang out.
Anyway, good problems to have (especially as I hadn’t planned on selling at another event until the Royal Oak Farmers Market: Art Fair Edition in a couple of weeks).
Impression 5 Holiday STEM Market
I will for sure be at Impression 5 Science Center this Friday night, 6PM – 9PM. NOTE: this event is ages 21+. I’ll only be selling Foxes & Boxes books, however. The fun news is, I’m sharing a table with my wife, artist Steph Joy Hogan. She had the honor of making some original art for I5, which you can see on display if you visit.
Since we’re sharing a table, I only have room to sell my Foxes & Boxes books, which is fine. It fits the theme of the event better anyway (gifts for kids, and who doesn’t love giving all-ages comics to young readers?). Steph is selling all kinds of art, most of which is STEM themed (well, at least outer space themed).
Lansing Art Gallery: Michigan Made
Over at the Lansing Art Gallery, you can also buy art by Steph and I. The gallery handles the sales, so we don’t need to be there in person. We both wanted to be at the reception, of course, because it is a fun event. If you are looking for unique gifts, I highly recommend you swing by to the event, or just check out the gallery on another day.
Several different designs of my cartoon greeting cards will be for sale at the Lansing Art Gallery (they are all blank on the inside, so you can write whatever you want).
Steph has several framed original art pieces for sale at the gallery.
Next: Royal Oak Farmers Market
I didn’t plan this, but November ended up becoming a busy month (three appearances, including a two-day show). I have my last “art fair” show of the year on November 21-22 in Royal Oak, Michigan. I’ll be at the Royal Oak Farmers Market that Thursday and Friday, 12PM – 10PM. Yes, those are some interesting hours, but the idea is to take advantage of the night life in town.
But Wait There’s More?!
Let’s not forget about December. I have two events, although I’m really only selling at one of them. There’s an opening reception for the Sunrises & Smokestacks exhibition at Fenner Nature Center’s new art gallery on December 6th.
Then, the next day, December 7 I’ll be at the REO Town Annual Holiday Pop-Up.
After that weekend, I’m done with events until February’s Michigan State University Comics Forum. Unless I’m not (but I kinda hope I am). I need a break ::sleepy emoji::
Don’t worry though, my summer 2020 schedule will not look like this year’s. The 2019 season gave me a lot to think about going forward. I’m cutting back on comic con appearances for 2020, with the MSU Comics Forum being my only planned appearance at the moment.
