Last week, I decided to reboot my Patreon. I haven’t done much there over the past year or so, after mothballing my comics production. BUT, I got the itch to start making comics and cartoons again recently. I didn’t want to overhaul one of my websites or make a new one though. Patreon was the easiest solution.

What is Patreon?
On Patreon, you pledge a certain dollar amount to me every month, and in return you get rewards. It is a way to directly support me. Think of it like pledging to a public TV or radio station. Easy!
What Rewards Do You Get?
I have several rewards tiers, ranging from $1 a month to $75 a month (and a lot in between).
$1 a month – Kitten (limited to 9 patrons)
- Full access to patrons only blog posts! My archive has years of posts.
- See new art, cartoons, and comics before I share them anywhere else!
- An exclusive 15% discount in my shop!
- Access to other early content, when possible (ex: videos)!
$3 a month – Cat
- The same rewards as the $1 level, but with an unlimited number of patrons.
$5 a month – Jaguar
- Access to my Lens posts (similar to Stories on Instagram, they disappear after 24 hours).
- Ability to vote in patron polls.
- All of the $3 level rewards!
$10 a month – Panther
- A new printable black and white coloring page every month!
- All of the $3 and $5 level rewards!
$20 a month – Lion (limited to 4 patrons)
- I will mail you a handwritten personal note with a sketch every month. Yes, a real letter through snail mail! Bonus: it will be wax sealed with my signet ring. (Mailed after I get your monthly payment)

$40 a month – Tiger (limited to 3 patrons)
- Every month I will mail you a 4×6 piece of original art, made with watercolor and ink. Pieces this size I normally sell for $50+ in my shop. The subject is my choice, so it is a surprise! (Mailed after I get your monthly payment)

- All of the $3, $5, and $10 level rewards!
$75 a month – Catzilla (limited to 2 patrons)
- Every month I will send you a 5×7 watercolor and ink commission–that’s right, you tell me what you want and I’ll make it! Limited to one character/subject/thing. I reserve the right to deny a request and ask you for a different idea. (Mailed after I get your monthly payment)

So, Why Did I Make the Move to Patreon?
I like making things and sharing them online. However, I’m tired of fighting the algorithm on social media. I have fans and followers who don’t always see my updates. Not to mention, the algorithm keeps changing, and I’m also tired of having to chase the flavor of the month feature/trend to get noticed.
With Patreon, all of my followers see everything they have access to based on their tier.
Is Everything Behind a Paywall?
Not in the least! While patrons get to see comics first and early, comics will be public later (and posted to social media still). I’m also planning on posting free content, like blog posts about art, etc. You can even create a free account and “follow” my page, and you will get notified whenever I have a free post.
Building a Community
Patreon has a lot of great features for building and maintaining a community of fans. This is my other goal with the site. I can create polls to get ideas about what to draw, take suggestions from fans, and so on.
