Cherry Capital Comic Con returns to Traverse City this weekend. I will be there, as will my wife Steph Joy Hogan, selling her art at a “comic con” for the first time ever. We will be side by side at the end of one of the artist rows. Don’t worry, you can’t miss us. Just look for the colorful pictures of cats and such.
When and Where is Cherry Capital Comic Con?
The show starts this Friday night, May 24, at 5PM with a “preview” until 8PM. Then the real deal kicks off at 10AM on Saturday, May 25 and goes until 6PM. Sunday, May 26 is a bit shorter, with hours running from 11AM to 5PM.
Everything takes place in the Grand Traverse Resort and Spa, in Acme, Michigan. Grab badges for Cherry Capital Comic Con via the website.
The Great Cartoonist Sketch-Off
Once again, I have the pleasure of joining fellow inkslingers Jay Fosgitt, Jeffrey J. Manley, and Jay Jacot on stage for the Great Cartoonist Sketch-Off, aka The Battle of the Js. We draw funny pictures in front of a live audience, and hilarity always ensues.
You get to witness the insanity not once, but TWICE. Saturday at 12:30 PM and Sunday at 1PM (each time in the Outback Steakhouse Panel Room). Come on out, you might even win one of our drawings.
The Hogan Tag Team
As I mentioned above, my wife Steph Joy Hogan is selling her art as well this year. We’re both at booth 801 in Artist Alley. Better still: we’re debuting a new pair of art prints we collaborated on. She painted the backgrounds and I drew cartoons on top.
What Am I Selling at Cherry Capital Comic Con?
Along with the prints I made with Steph, all kinds of goodies:
- The new Foxes & Boxes book!
- 11” x 14” cartoon prints, including 4 new prints in a series I call Sassy Food, the prints I did with Steph, and the always popular Free Cats print.
- Cartoon greeting cards.
- Cartoon buttons.
- My Random Cartoons (roll the dice, I draw the result).
- Commissions.
- Some original art, including my framed original Sassy Food cartoons that are left.
If you are in the Traverse City area this weekend, swing on by the show. I would love to see you, and there’s a lot of cool stuff to check out. James O’Barr, creator of The Crow comic, is a guest this year, along with a bunch of other guests and artists.
C4 is always a good time, and this is my fifth year attending. Can’t wait!
