ArtPath 2021 and Shop Updates!

I’m pleased, excited, happy, and so forth to share some fantastic news! A few months ago, I submitted a proposal to make an outdoor art installation for the Lansing Art Gallery’s ArtPath.

This week’s it is officially official (officially): my proposal was selected!

I’m joining a group of other artists, and our installations will decorate the River Trail here in Lansing (a walking/biking path along the river).

WHAT AM I MAKING?

My proposal was for a piece called Path Pals. It is a free standing painted wooden photo frame. Both sides will feature a painted cartoon monster. Check out my proposal sketch below.

So, the idea is an interactive art installation. Visitors snap photos, and post them on social media, using the hashtag #ArtPathPals. I will also use that hashtag when I post process photos over the next few weeks.

Yes, I still have to actually make this piece.

Thankfully, I have help. As part of being selected, I get a stipend of $1,000 to cover expenses. So, I hired Luke from Pline Craftsman Co. to build the wooden frame using my design. After Luke is done, I’ll start painting.

Keep your eyes on my Instagram for photo updates!

(BTW, I recently changed my Instagram name to danieljhoganart instead of clattertron. If you already follow me, you don’t have to do anything).

ArtPath 2021 runs June 1 – August 31. I’ll share more info once it is officially open.
