I was back at it this weekend: livestreaming myself painting an Inktober cartoon. I went live on Instagram Sunday evening, and then posted the video to the Clattertron Facebook page after I finished.

Inktober Painting Video: Day 15
I decided to shake things up and did this video for Instagram first, unlike Facebook first on my earlier livestream. I also changed the angle, opting to place my phone on my desktop tripod in front of me (the Triflex Mini with an Ulanzi Tripod Mount). I felt this gave a better view of the action than the angle I used in last week’s videos.

Yes, it’s vertical video this time. I opted to try to optimize my video for social media this time around. I’ll keep experimenting however.
Cameras and Editing
I did a test run shooting video with my Canon Rebel T2i Friday night. I wanted to see if I could shoot video with it and easily edit it for uploading to YouTube or Facebook.
Yes, I can shoot video. Hooray! The bad news: the sound was terrible. I do have a microphone I could use, thanks to my old H2 Zoom recorder.
Editing wasn’t much better either. All I have on my MacBook Pro is iMovie, which isn’t great. I need to update the OS on my MacBook, so hopefully the new version of iMovie will be a bit better. At the very least, a new OS means I can try using a differnt editing program.
Phoning It In
For the short-term, I’ll stick to using my phone, a Samsung Galaxy S7 for my videos. I don’t mind doing live video, and I can get it online right away. Plus, it means I can interact with fans in the moment too. Fun!
