I return to Lansing’s Old Town this Friday and Saturday for ScrapFest 15. Unlike other art festivals on my schedule, I won’t be selling Found Cartoons. Instead, I’m selling Scraptoons. These are pieces I make with old papers, where I draw cartoons on top.
I went over the whole process in a recent livestream at my studio.
Speaking of livestreams, in Sunday’s livestream I discussed how this could be my last ScrapFest, at least for a while. The short version is, because I’m focusing on my Found Cartoons, doing Scraptoons takes away from that focus. I enjoy making Scraptoons, but they are a lot more work, and I’m limited where I can sell them. I also got into this on Sunday’s livestream, talking about why I stick to Drawing categories at art festivals vs. Mixed Media.
