Photos from my Escape to Alcatraz series. I don’t remember exactly what this door led to, but I don’t think it was “the hole.” It may have been another solitary cell.

I had the crank the heck out of my ISO to get the shot above. This was my first day really using my new Canon T2i, so a lot of these Alcatraz photos were taking with the Auto settings. Oh well, have to start somewhere.

These windows are for lookin', not for climbin'.
I had to tweak this shot a bit in Photoshop, as it was kind of soft (ah, the joys of shooting inside). I converted it to the blue color channel and used the Curves tool. I switched the blend mode to Color Burn and dropped the Fill to about 45%–it really helped darken the image and make it more shadowy and spooky, while boosting the light from the windows.
Another re-post, but a bit larger this time around. Love the light coming in through the window and the “Library” sign above the door.
