Another batch of Eating San Francisco photos.
That is a famous In-N-Out Burger (with a chocolate shake in the background). More info and another photo after the break.
As I said in the first installment, I had been on a ‘No Meat’ diet leading up to my San Francisco vacation. I, happily, kicked that to the curb upon touching down in Cali. After eating plenty of meet with my pho the night before, I opted to “go for broke” with an In-N-Out burger the next day for lunch (after a fun trip to Alcatraz Prison).
Now, I don’t eat a lot of burgers in general, but I do make exceptions once in awhile (I believe in treating myself). Man. Am I glad I decided to have one of these. I eat pretty healthy 90% of the time, but I do enjoy a burger here and there.
I’ll tell you what, after over a month of no meat, this burger tasted like patty-shaped ambrosia forged by Hephaestus in the fires of Olympus. The service was equally amazing and impressive. They run a tight ship at In-N-Out, and you can tell. Thankfully, my friend hipped me to the Secret Menu.
My friends insisted we must have a mission burrito (aka a San Francisco burrito) during our visit. Wow. Talk about tasty. We walked to a neighborhood Taqueria, where I ordered said burrito and a ginger beer (they are big on ginger in San Francisco). I don’t remember exactly what kind I ordered, but I know it had some kind of meat (I think chicken), beans and it may have had a mole sauce too.
This thing was huge. It was the perfect pre-red eye flight food, because I would not be eating again until the next early afternoon in Michigan. Oy. I loved this burrito. It was so great, I have dreams about it.
This photo was taken with my point and shoot.
Tomorrow: fancy pizza!
