Work on my new novel continues.
It is work, yes, but fun work. First drafts are a weird kind of fun–there is an odd freedom about a first draft. Consequences be damned, and all. Because: you can always fix stuff in the next drafts.
I’m at about 10 thousand words in by now, so over 10% finished (my goal was around 80 thousand words). In last week’s newsletter, I wrote about letting the story take the lead. This is a difficult concept to explain to non-creatives (no offense), but, while writing (or drawing) if inspiration taps me on the shoulder and says “Go this way,” I do. It could be “add this plot point” or “here’s a new character” but I go with the flow.
It is why I have a difficult time answering the ‘Where do you get your ideas?’ question. I just get ideas. There isn’t any magic involved, it is how my mind works.
GTG is back!
Blog Posts – Inktober posts
Inktober is nearly finished–my last drawing will be on the 31st. A fan already asked about buying all 31 drawings, so I have that to look forward to, which is nice (and keeps me drawing).
