“Do the work,” was the theme of last week’s newsletter. And boy howdy, have I been working. Inktober, blogging, making comics, and starting a new novel.
Or rather, started. Yes, I started a new novel last week. I got the idea about a year ago, and it wouldn’t stop bouncing around in my head. Out! Out! Get on the page!
I prepared for about a week, but finally dove in last Monday or Tuesday. Preparing is good and all, but the best novel prep-work is starting to write. Ideas flow once you start to do the work, speaking from experience. I have a rough outline, and a word count in mind (just north of 80 thousand words).
I’m still sending my second finished novel, Riddle of the White Gun, to agents–but this is not keeping me from starting a third (or fourth, or fifth depending on what drafts of White Gun I’m counting, along with other books).
