More news on the merch front. Or should I say, torso?
My Li’l Chewie painting is now available as a t-shirt and a print via my Society6 store. I own another of my t-shirts and the quality is great (for a print on demand service). It still looks fine after several washes (and a couple of comic show Saturdays too).
I plan to recreate this painting, as a larger version (so, drawing and painting it again) and make it a nice print to sell at shows.
This brings up the age-old selling fan art at shows debate: should I or not?
Well, for this painting, it is my silly take on a character. I’m not copying the cover of a Spider-Man comic or something. I have plans for prints of ‘my own stuff’ too. As my style develops, and I attend more comic shows, I know what works–folks really love my silly cat sketch cards. This is why I try to always scan my sketch cards before a show, so I can see what sold (and use the scan to try to make more of the same).
In other good news, I got an email about a watercolor commission. Huzzah! I had my first commission earlier this month and it shipped all the way to Tennessee.
