If you want to see me in all three dimensions, head out to the Michigan State University Comics Forum this Saturday. The MSU Comics Forum is a FREE event, so there’s no reason not to come out! Unless you don’t like the outside, which I can definitely understand–but there will be comics!
Michigan State University Comics Forum Creator and Scholar Keynotes
But, before the fun begins on Saturday, comes out on Friday night for the free creator keynote address. This year’s speaker is cartoonist Lucy Knisley. I’ve followed her work for years online and highly recommend her books Something New and Relish. The Creator Keynote is Friday, Feb. 23 at 7PM in the Green Room of the MSU Main Library. I’m looking forward to this!
On Saturday, the Scholar Keynote is by award-winning editor, Diana Schutz. She’s had a long career in comics and worked with a lot of big names, including Will Eisner, Frank Miller, and Stan Sakai to name only a few. The Scholar Keynote is on Saturday, Feb. 24 at 12:15 PM in the Smart Classroom of the MSU Main Library. Unfortunately, this is during the artist alley hours, so I can’t attend.
More information is available on the Schedule page.
When Is the Michigan State University Comics Forum?
The creator keynote kicks things off this Friday, Feb. 23 at 7 PM. Artist alley, where I will be, is this Saturday, Feb. 24 starting at 11 AM and goes until 5 PM. There are other events going on during artist alley too, like panel discussions.
Where is the Michigan State University Comics Forum?
This year the MSU Comics Forum is at the Main Library on campus (366 W Circle Dr, East Lansing, MI 48824). While there will be free parking, you will still have to walk a ways to the library. However, this minor inconvenience mains more space for the Comics Forum, so it’s worth the hassle. Remember: this is a FREE event! More info about parking is on the Location page.
