I know I’ve been quiet for a few months, but today I have a bunch of updates for y’all. Let’s get busy.
ART FESTIVALS
After my year off from art festivals in 2024, I’ve decided to return this year. I’m happy to say I already have three confirmed events: East Lansing Art Festival, Lansing Pride, and Scrapfest.
I’m on the wait-list for an art festival in Kalamazoo, and I’m applying to at least another elsewhere. Obviously, the closer to the events I’ll send out reminders and more info. East Lansing, my first of the season, isn’t until May 17 and 18.
For East Lansing, and similar events, I’m only bringing my Found Cartoons. This season I’m trying to narrow my focus on what I bring to art festivals and see how this change performs.
Lansing Pride will be different, for a few reasons. I’m not restricted with what I can bring, it is only one day, and I’m sharing a tent with Steph. I’ll have Found Cartoons of course, but I may have some other art I think would do well.
Scrapfest will only feature my ScrapToons, as they are the only thing I can bring.
SOCIAL MEDIA CHANGES
Another big update: with recent changes on Facebook and Instagram, for the worse, I’m limiting my time there and use. I’m not shutting down my Facebook and Instagram accounts, yet, but I’m not actively posting things there either. Sure, I’ll drop in with event info or something big, but I’m not putting a lot of energy into either platform.
However, you can find me on Bluesky as danieljhogan where I am very active.
PATREON
Since I’m functionally done with Facebook and Instagram, I’m using my Patreon more. I plan on blogging there more often, along with posting Journal Drawings and Diary Comics. My Diary Comics are for paid members only, but anyone can make a free account and see all of my public posts, which is basically everything besides the Diary Comics.
If you make an account, don’t sign up with the Apple app store Patreon app. For some reason, Apple has to take a huge percentage if you use their app. Just sign up on the actual website, patreon.com/danieljhogan and I think you can still use the Apple app after without an issue.
Paid members get early access to everything, at least a day, before they go public.
You can be a paid member for only $3/month, which is less than most things these days (gas, coffee, etc).
Thanks for reading, and I’ll be in touch!
