Drawing – Reverb 10 #3 -Moment

drawing of the reverb 10 prompt #3, "Moment" by Daniel J. Hogan

Here is yesterday’s drawing for Reverb 10 prompt #3, “Moment.”

Pick one moment during which you felt most alive this year. Describe it in vivid detail (texture, smells, voices, noises, colors). (Author: Ali Edwards)

I had to stretch this one a bit, my “moment” was my trip to San Francisco this past April. It was a pretty big deal, as I have never been to California before, and it was the first time I went on a trip like it with a girlfriend.

I guess I didn’t really describe the “moment” as the prompt suggested, but I just drew images of the first memories that came to mind:

The trees at Muir Woods, the Golden Gate Bridge, visiting Alcatraz Prison, the sea gulls, the sea lions at Pier 39, eating at In-N-Out Burger and the San Francisco Zoo.

I broke down and bought a new set of Micron pens for inking. My least favorite part of this drawing is the plane on the “plane ticket,” but oh well.

Nice to know that my “neck of the woods” provided you with many wonderful moments this year. Even though I live here, I walked the length of the Golden Gate Bridge the day after Thanksgiving for the second time ever. We saw dolphins and seals far below us playing in the tide movements. It was a crisp, sunny day and I sure felt alive. Muir Woods is a sacred place. Powerful presence of redwoods.

I get it about the plane ticket.

nice to find you via #reverb10

Hi Kathy, thanks for the kind words — I loved Muir Woods, I just wish it hadn’t been raining when I was there 🙂 but, that gives me an excuse to go back!

I really enjoyed the pictorial approach. It’s inspiring and I’d love to try drawing something, except I never seemed to make it past stick people.

I’m looking forward to your next one.

Hi Patti,

Oh, trust me, you’ll see a few stick figures pop up here before the month is out, I’m sure 🙂

Yep, I’m an SF resident, too. That’s one good looking sea lion! =)
