Photo-Double Duck

the terror, that flaps in the night...and so on.

You are thinking of that Foreigner song right now.

A duck on the Grand River in downtown Lansing, MI.

This was at dusk (give or take) downtown, and I was walking on the River Trail. I noticed the reflections of the ducks in the water, and tried to get a nice shot off. I’m pretty happy with this one.  It was under-exposed a bit to begin with, so I opted to just make it black and white. I cleaned up the water (ha) in Photoshop, too (just got rid of specks and such).

I’ve been using a trick I read about in a photo book: using f-stop 8 or 11 when I don’t care too much about exposure (I think the book even called them the “I don’t care” or “who cares” exposures). I did know I wanted to freeze the action, hence the fast shutter speed, and for being zoomed in all the way on my 55-250mm lens, this turned out pretty good.

You take some really nice photos. I think I’m a little bit jealous.
