Convention and art festival season is coming, so I better get ready. You can see an updated appearances schedule below (subject to change). This is by no means a final list, as I’m currently waiting to hear back from four shows if I got in or not.
May
Friday, 5/3/2019 – Arts Night Out: Cravings Popcorn (Lansing, MI)
Come see me at Old Town’s beloved snack shop, Cravings Popcorn. I will be there as part of Arts Night Out, which means other businesses will be hosting artists. I will be there 5PM – 8PM.
Saturday, 5/18 – Sunday, 5/19/2019 – East Lansing Art Festival (East Lansing, MI)
Great news! I’m returning to the East Lansing Art Festival this year. I got in last year as an Emerging Artist, but this year I’m attending as a full-fledged artist (with my own tent and booth fees). Better still, my wife Steph Joy Hogan will be back as an artist too (she was also an Emerging Artist last year).
Friday, 5/24 – Sunday, 5/26/2019 – Cherry Capital Comic Con (Traverse City, MI)
My action-packed May concludes with a return to Cherry Capital Comic Con on Memorial Day Weekend. I can’t wait to be back this year, because I’m debuting the new Foxes & Boxes book that weekend! (Assuming I don’t run into any printing issues. Keep those fingers crossed.)
There’s an extra surprise this year at C4 too: Steph has her own table for selling art. We plan on collaborating on a pair of fun prints to sell.
NOTE: Due to a family event on May 4, I will not be appearing anywhere for Free Comic Book Day this year (but you should still find a local event and go).
June
I applied for an art festival in June, but I won’t hear if I got in or not until early May. Either way, June could be pretty light, which is probably a good thing.
July
Saturday, 7/6 – Sunday, 7/7/2019 – West Shore Art Fair (Ludington, MI)
I’m happy to share I got into a new (for me) art festival on my first try. The West Shore Art Fair is in lovely Ludington, MI. Looking forward to this show on the shores of Lake Michigan in July.
Saturday, 7/20 – Really Cool Comic Con (Howell, MI)
Another new show for me, I’m appearing Really Cool Comic Con for the first time. It is a one day show, and I will pretty much try any one day show at least once (and it’s not that far away from Lansing either).
Saturday, 7/27 – Sunday, 7/28 – Get Geek’d Expo (Lansing, MI)
I’m returning to this comic/pop culture show in downtown Lansing. Should be fun, and it’s mere minutes from my house. Always a plus!
August
I have applications in for two shows in August, but it will be a bit before I know if I got in or not.
September
I’m on the wait list for Capital City Comic Con in East Lansing. I somehow messed up my application, and they never got it. We touched base about the issue, and I’m on the wait list, so keep those fingers crossed.
I’m sure I could add other shows and appearances over the rest of 2019 (although I’m trying to not do as many as last year–23!). Keep your eyes on my appearances page or the widget in the sidebar.
Found Cartoons Runs Until April 29th
Don’t forget! You can go see my solo exhibition, Found Cartoons, at the Arts Council of Greater Lansing offices until April 29th. The office is open 9am – 5pm, Monday – Friday. Contact me to purchase any of the pieces (they will have to remain on display until April 29th).
