If you follow me on Instagram, Facebook, or Twitter, you’re probably aware I started doing #The100DayProject again this year. I took part in this creative challenge last year, and the result was my 100 Positive Things collection of cartoons.

At first I was not going to give it another go, but inspiration struck, and I’m all in.

#The100DayProject 2018: What Am I Doing?

“What am I doing?” is a question I could honestly ask myself everyday. In the context of #The100DayProject, I do have an answer! Every day, I make a random shape with watercolor paint, and then I turn that shape into a cartoon.

This idea comes from a warm-up exercise I already do, called shape exercises. First, I make shapes in my sketchbook with an ink wash pen, marker, or colored pencil. Then, I add details with one of my ink pens. It is a fun exercise.

#100RandomThings

I’m calling this collection 100 Random Things. You can see some of last year’s 100 Positive Things in my Etsy shop, and buy this year’s cartoons too. I’ve already sold a few, and they’ve all sold on the day I posted them, so keep an eye on my Instagram or my Etsy shop for updates!

Some of my cartoons so far.

I’ve made a few random shapes into cats, and I will definitely do more. However, I’m not going to only do cats. As much as I would like to do about 90 more cat cartoons for #The100DayProject, I’m sure that would get a little boring after about…uh 40 or so in a row. If I have a shape that will make for a cute cat, then sure, I’ll make one. I won’t force myself to make a random shape into a cat though.

Buy #The100DayProject Cartoons In Person on Saturday

I will have my #The100DayProject cartoons for sale with me this coming Saturday at the REO Town Marketplace. I have a brand new binder to hold all of my 100 Random Things, as well as my remaining 100 Positive Things and Inktober 2017 cartoons.

Or course, they are all for sale in my Etsy Shop, and I’m adding new cartoons pretty much daily.
