Some big news: I took home my first art festival award over the weekend! I had the honor of receiving Third Place out of all of the exhibiting artists.
“A Major Award!”
As this is only my second season doing art festivals, awards aren’t really on my mind. I know some art festivals give them out, but they weren’t a focus or a concern. Sure, I always hoped to win one, but I didn’t think I would any time soon (especially with my goofy cartoons).
Winning Third Place at the Brighton Wine Art Music Festival made me feel honored and grateful. Steph hung my award ribbon on the fridge, bless her heart.
Opening Doors
Better still: winning this award led to me being invited to do a show in Royal Oak this November inside the Farmers Market. So, yes, I thought I was done with multiple day art shows for 2019, but I just added another one. At least that’s a few months out, and it’s inside. I am curious what doing a show during the holiday shopping season will be like. The show is the week before Thanksgiving, so maybe I should crank out some funny turkey drawings.
I joke, but a customer asked over the weekend if I had any “holiday” themed art while looking over my Monster Portraits. This season had definitely given me a lot to think about when it comes to what art I make going forward, and how I present/sell said art at festivals.
Etsy Update
Speaking of selling, my Etsy shop is (finally) back open. I need to add some new inventory, but you can buy signed copies of the Foxes & Boxes book now! I will also do a sketch on the inside, and throw in either a button or sticker while supplies last.
Otherwise, you can buy copies of the book in person (along with my original art and prints) at my next event, ArtFeast on August 17th.
