Ah, books. Those portable gateways to Other Worlds, be it Oz, Middle-Earth, or Sweet Valley. I found these at the Michigan State University Surplus Store. It is the sort of place where you buy books by the pound.

I wish I could buy more items by the pound. Like pancakes. “Yes, I’d like ten pounds of pancakes please.” Or “Give me a stone of your finest sarcastic tshirts, my good man.”

Speaking of books, someone needs to have the guys from Dude, What Would Happen do podcasts of public domain books. Audio gold, right there:

I like collecting Elric novels, especially older versions from the ’70s. I’ve been collecting them over the past few years.  Elric books are the first thing I search for when I go to a used book store.

This was fun, I enjoyed coming up with a way to spoof some of Dune‘s characters and such. And yes, I know it isn’t Paul who eventually becomes God Emperor. Hooray for stupid comics.  When doing these, I try not to edit (too much) and to just go with my first idea. If anything, these are a good ‘think on my feet’ exercise. Man, I can’t even begin to tell you how many I hours of my youth I wasted spent playing Dune II on our old PC.
