Inktober: Let’s get inky.

October is here, and with it comes one of the holiest months on the cartoonist calendar: Inktober.

What is Inktober?

Inktober is a month-long drawing challenge. You create 31 “ink” drawings in 31 days. It may sound easy, but trust me, it will test your limits. I’ve attempted it twice in the past, and only completed once. The official rules say to share the drawing on social media with the #inktober and #inktober2017 tags. But, in the past I tried to post them to my blog(s) instead, and that’s where I got burned out. And fast.

So, this time around, I’m posting the images to Instagram, Facebook, and Patreon. I’m sure some of my drawings will end up on Twitter here and there too.

Watch My Inktober Video

For the first day of Inktober, I livestreamed myself inking and painting my first drawing. Watch my Facebook Live video below.

Here the link for the video on Facebook if the embed doesn’t work for you.

I’m still getting the hang of social media video, but I’m glad I’m at least trying. I would like to get some better gear/software at some point, but for now: baby steps. I have some ideas about cameras  and/or other equipment I want to get. It’s just a matter of saving up and then taking the leap. I could shoot video with either my phone or my DSLR (Canon Rebel T2i) but I need editing software. I had Final Cut Pro “back in the day” but that was two Macs ago. Time to upgrade.

Inktober Pens And Paints

Pens and paints I used in the video:

I will try to do more video when I can!
